Good Good Study, Day Day Up!

The week that's just gone past has seen a world of politics where election took place in both USA and NZ.

On November 4, 2008, Democratic Barack Obama defeated Republican John McCain and became the first African American to be elected the 44th President of the United States. In his victory speech, delivered before a crowd of hundreds of thousands of his supporters in Chicago, Obama proclaimed that "change has come to America."



And on Saturday November 8, 2008, the Labour Party failed to secure its hoped-for fourth term and lost to the National Party. Similarly in John Key's victory speech he said the country has "voted for change" .



Is it because people are just tired of the old government, or the economic turmoil partly to blame? I don't know, only time will tell if we have made the right choice.

Five days is just not enough to fully appreciate the beauty of South Island.

My amazing journey started in Queenstown. Nestled by the Lake Wakatipu and surrounded by the mountains of Remarkables, it is probably the most beautiful town in New Zealand. We checked in to a lakeview villa for the night, it was the kind of house I could only dream of.



The next day we headed west to one of NZ's biggest tourist attractions - Milford Sound. The 3.5 hour cruise out to Tasman Sea was once in a life time experience. Gliding over calm waters between weather-scuffed cliifs, and catching sight of the spectacular 1692m high Mitre Peak in the distance, is just captivating. Seals, penguins and dophins were our company too.



The following days we crossed the south island to Dunedin and drove along the east coast line up to Oamaru where we got to see rare creatures like roral albotross and blue eyed penguins. One of the highlights of this leg of the journey was the scene from the Lord of the Ring movie at  Mamaroa River. Did New Zealanders know they live in a paradise?



After the wildlife exloration, we headed back towards Queenstown. On the way we visited the town of Cromwell which is famous for it fruit production and Arrowntown where early settlements of Chinese miners can be found. We also paid a visit to one of NZ's largest wine caves - Gibbston Valley winery.

Our final stop was Wanaka before catching the plane back to Auckland. Located just 100km northesast of Queenstown, it follows closely with the footsteps of becoming a year-round tourist destination. The lakeside town has all the elements Queenstown has to offer, Lake Wanaka and Mt Aspiring National Park.



Spectacular scenery, amazing landscape, beautiful wildlife and friendly locals, no wonder New Zealand has claimed the world's must-visit destination for the umpteenth year in a row. Without a doubt it was a trip of a lifetime and I will certainly explore more beauty of this remote paradise.

Once in a life time, today 08 August 2008, will be engraved into my memory forever!
